Summary

The California Equal Pay Act allows employees to bring a claim if employees of a different race, sex, or ethnicity are paid higher for substantially similar work.  On January 1, 2026, amendments went into effect strengthening the Act, extending the statute of limitations, clarifying when claims accrue, further defining "wages," and providing limits on how wide pay ranges may be in public job postings.  Learn about the changes to the law, as well as how to identify and litigate these claims.
