CODE OF CONDUCT
This sets forth the Code of Conduct expected of all members of the Consumer Attorneys Association of Los Angeles (CAALA).
As a member of CAALA, I will strive to:
1. Uphold the reputation and good standing of CAALA
2. Maintain a respectful demeanor with Fellow CAALA members, CAALA staff, and CAALA affiliate members
3. Not make any statement on behalf of CAALA or purport to represent CAALA through any public medium unless authorized to do so by CAALA
4. Pledge to commit to the California State Bar's Rules of Professional Conduct and Attorney Guidelines of Civility and Professionalism http://www.calbar.ca.gov/Portals/0/documents/ethics/Civility/Atty-Civility-Guide-Revised_Sept-2014.pdf
5. Encourage respect for the law, the courts, the bar and the right to trial by jury
6. Not initiate a media event following a disaster or incident that resulted in injury or death for the sole purpose of attracting cases
7. Not knowingly accept referral of a case that has been procured by conduct that violates the provisions of the Business and Professions Code, the Rules of Professional Responsibility of the State Bar of California, or other applicable rule
8. Not include pre-dispute forced arbitration clauses in my retainer agreements with clients
9. Accept only cases and legal matters for which I or my co-counsel possess the requisite knowledge, skill, time and resources to prosecute diligently and competently
10. Disclose to clients the intention to refer their case to another attorney or to engage the services of another attorney to represent their interests
11. Communicate promptly, frankly, and fully with clients when they inquire about their cases and at other times as appropriate to keep them informed about the progress and status of their cases
12. Achieve and maintain proficiency in my practice and continue to expand my knowledge of the law
13. Work with other members of the bar to make our system of justice more accessible, transparent and responsive
14. Maintain good standing with the California State Bar and to immediately notify CAALA when I am no longer in good standing
